8. What's new at the shop?
+ + + + +
1. Once we finished the service on Jerry's red 1979 T/A, he drove
out in his late model Grand Am and left it at the shop until
a friend could ride back out with him. Well that was several weeks
ago, and his "daily driver" has been sitting out at the shop since
then. We suspect that even though the T/A does not have Air
Conditioning the T-tops have been in the bags most of the time.
Maybe he's having too much fun with the new transmission shift kit
that lays rubber half way through second gear. Could be the new car
smell from the new Auto Custom Carpet we installed.
http://www.texastransams.com/parts/parts.htm
Perhaps he's still showing off the Texas Trans Am Sound from
the new mufflers we installed.
http://www.texastransams.com/sounds/idle.htm
By the way, we can ship Auto Custom Carpet and Texas Trans Am
Mufflers to you, or if you can get your car to our shop just south
of Fort Worth, Texas, we can install the carpet and mufflers with
full dual exhaust and an "H" equalizer pipe.
"Zoom, Zoom", yeah we've got that.
2. "Membership has its privileges"

Last month's newsletter can be found in the articles and news
section, but only one month later. As a subscriber, you get
the cars, parts and scoop 4 weeks before anyone else.

3. Recently we had a good question from a customer about how cylinder
over-bore affects horse power. So the Webmaster went to work to
Attempt to answer the question. He built an online Compression Ratio
Calculator to determine the increased Compression Ratio over stock.
It can now be found in the Articles section of the Website.
http://www.texastransams.com/articles/compression_calculator.htm
Armed with the new compression numbers two different models were
created using "Dyno2000 tm" available from Motion Software, on the
desktop at the shop. We use the software for estimations of changes
made to engines.
We found that using the stock HO cam grind file the cylinder bore
increase affected the horse power only slightly, but increased the
torque more significantly.
http://www.motionsoftware.com
If you use this type of software to estimate engine changes, remember
to increase both the bore size and compression ratio figures.
4. Texas Trans Am Service and Restoration is issuing an unofficial
recall for the Second Gen. Firebird A-Pillars. It has been our
experience that due to the design of the unibody construction and
attachment to the sub frame rails both coupe and T-top cars develop
cracks in the back rail of the A-Pillars. Call 817-563-2121 to
schedule repair for your A-Pillars.

5. We are now able to accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
We are now mostly shipping FedEx ground, except for oversized items.
We're still trying to figure out how to get a passenger side quarter
panel to Nova Scotia.
We still have the driver's side quarter available for your '75
through '81 ready to ship.
6. Y'all must be keeping our Trans Am websites pretty busy. Barry
said he saw us ranked #5 for a short time on the Top 100 Muscle Car
Sites. Thanks for your efforts!
http://www.top100musclecarsites.com/scripts/arp/rankem.cgi?id=perform
The Webmaster noticed ranking mostly in the top 15 during June.

8. At the shop recently...
We repaired the throttle and kick-down cable
Bracket on Jerry's red '79 T/A and sent the car home.
Skinned the door on the '65 Mustang
Shipped several more pairs of mufflers
Worked on the body of the Larry A's '71 T/A,
Adjusted the hinges doors and hood on our other Larry's '81 T/A,
We cut some very nice rear quarters off a 1980 Firebird for other
projects, fitted and welded the Fisher T-Top roof on Chris A's
'78 T/A,
http://www.texastransams.com/restoration/78black_ta_chris_a_01.htm
and cooked pancakes on the grill,
only one Kildee egg hatched that we could find.
http://www.texastransams.com/articles/kildee.htm
We can't decide if we like Earl Campbell's Hot links or Johnsonville
Brats better, so we'll keep taste testing them until we decide.
If you're coming out to the shop bring some potato chips.
